Amy barely touched her drink while Marley pointed to the man in tight jeans standing and chatting with a group of guys.
“Tell me what you think his best qualities are.” Marley winked.
“You go first,” said Amy, frowning and sounding hurt. This was the day she and Jeremy had planned to look for wedding rings. Until he called everything off.
“His tight ass for one. Just look at that shape resting on his incredible thighs. His smile, of course, is another asset.”
Amy stayed silent.
Marley sipped her wine and frowned. “Oh, my God, I have to call the paramedics on you.”
“Why?”
“Because you don’t have a pulse.”
Amy finally picked up her margarita, licked the salt along the rim of the glass, and sipped it.
“Nice tongue action.” Marley sounded impressed.
“Thanks.”
“Maybe you’d like to try it on — ” Marley glanced toward Mr. Handsome and his friends.
“Try it on Jeremy,” sighed Amy.
Marley locked eyes with her friend and spoke to her gently. “He’s gone, Amy.”
Amy sighed and slid down in her chair until Marley spoke up.
