Needing Cream With Her Coffee
Erica wanted to make up for her angry text message and the time was right when Benji stepped out of the shower

So what if it had rained and Benjamin had left the window down in the Nissan — again? That’s what Erica told herself to try and calm down.
But it was a big so what. This was her first time owning a new car and she was feeling accomplished as her interior design consultation was gaining traction.
She was late for a professional event where she was a main speaker and plopping onto a soaked driver’s seat that put a nice wet imprint on her ass was too much.
Benji was so wrapped up in his career that he wasn’t aware of anyone else, not even his wife of two years. She had simmered in a soaking driver’s seat and fought traffic with her grip on the steering wheel growing tighter with every passing minute.
By the time she arrived and parked her text wasn’t just a rant. It became an explosion:
Close the car window. Damn it. Think about me once in a while. You’re a fucking slob.
Hit send.
There.
And in a split second, her face burned with regret. Damn it. But she had to gather her files and hurry to the auditorium and wondered, Why?
If she had just waited to text until after she had presented, then — why did she let her fury loose on impulse?
The presentation went fine and plenty of people wanted to connect. Business was tough but it was easier than being married.
Hey, hon, everything was fine. Sorry for calling you a bad name. I love you.
Driving home was hard. He had texted a weak response. That’s fine. No problem.
It was a problem. She could fix his favorite fajitas for dinner. Dress in something lacy and cute.
It didn’t work last time when he mumbled “sorry” and spent the rest of the evening giving her the silent treatment. The words needed to repair things got stuck in his soul.
Poor Benji was sloppier than she had imagined. When they were dating it had seemed cute to pick up his socks and help him find his shoes. But then she had the option of going to her apartment to have space.
