Grappling with Her Career Part 2
Kaycee's love for Jenna makes her wonder what place soccer should have in her life
Kaycee jogged slowly but smoothly along the sidewalk, heading for home, and quieted her nerves while replaying the process one more time. The Cyclones had requested an updated tape a month earlier and now they had mailed a letter that was waiting on the kitchen table.
She had been preoccupied in her blossoming relationship with Jenna that was moving full speed ahead and had totally forgotten about having sent the tape. Seeing the letter on the table was a total stunner and wondering what was inside twisted her nerves.
They could have called or sent an email to say thanks but no thanks and good luck. If they had wanted her for tryouts wouldn’t they have emailed or called?
Kaycee slowed to a crawl and thought of Jenna in her tight denim shorts with her blue lacy panties beneath. Her eyes were so soothing and kisses so reassuring that Kaycee couldn’t believe they had once battled on the pitch.
She strolled up the driveway to the back house that was now her home, sleeping in the same bed as Jenna. And on the table lay the letter, which she wished would disappear.
“How was the run?” Jenna poured a glass of iced tea, before sitting down with her novel which was an escape from her day job as a graphic designer.
“Felt good.” Kaycee passed by and playfully slapped her lover on the ass. “Should’ve gone with me.”
Jenna smiled. “I don’t know if I could keep up.” She made her way to the sofa. “Or if I have the desire to keep up.”
“What?” Kaycee grabbed a glass from the cupboard and pushed it against the lever for the filtered water in the refrigerator. “You going to practice tonight?”
Jenna plopped and curled a leg beneath her bottom. “I, uh, I just don’t think I have it in me. I texted coach saying I need a break.”
Kaycee gulped her water and set the glass aside. “Jenna?”
“I’d like a break.”
A shock coursed from Kaycee’s thighs and up into her heart and settled somewhere deep in her mind where confusion reigned. Kaycee settled next to her on the sofa. “Is it too much? Am I too much?”
Moving in had seemed so right and their nights were filled with arms and legs locked while naked breasts pressed tightly against each other and they wrestled with lips and tongues.
“No, of course not, silly.” Jenna set the book aside and ran a hand reassuringly over Kaycee’s shoulder and kissed her gently on the lips. “In fact, I feel more settled than ever with you. Maybe that’s why I need a break from soccer.”
